15.1 Change in Name (Individual Investors)
Investors may request a change of name under which they have invested in a mutual fund scheme. Common cases for change of name include:
- Change of first/middle name
- Women changing their maiden name due to marriage
- Change in name due to divorce
Documents required:
- Self-attested copy of PAN card in the new name
- KYC confirmation or acknowledgement copy in the new name
- Name change certificate by a regulatory authority
- Gazette Notification towards name change duly Notarized
- Copy of Marriage Certificate duly verified and attested by Notary
- Copy of court order regarding divorce duly Notarized
- Details of the Folio
- Signature of the account holder (the unit holder whose name is being changed must sign with the old signature and the new signature)
- Bank account details with the new name incorporated
15.2 Change of Address
Investors provide their address and contact details during the first purchase. Change of address request must first be updated with KRA.
For non-KYC folios, submit the following documents:
- Self-attested proof of address
- PAN Card (or any other proof of identity for PAN exempt cases)
15.3 Change of Bank Details
Investors can register up to 5 bank accounts. For changes in bank details, the following is required:
- Bank name, branch name, MICR, IFSC code, account number, and type
- Cancelled cheque leaf or self-attested copy of a bank statement
- Test transaction of Rs. 1/- for validation
Cooling period of 10 days applies to change of bank details before redemption request.
15.4 Change in/ Updation of Other Details
- Contact details (email/mobile number): Investors can change contact details via a signed application or form from RTA/AMC.
- PAN: Investors must provide PAN details for redemption. The PAN can be updated on AMC/RTA websites or physically at ISCs.
15.5 Minor Becoming Major
When a minor unit holder becomes a major, they need to update their KYC and provide a new PAN card before continuing with the investments.
15.6 Registration of Power of Attorney (PoA)
Investors can register a PoA either when opening a new folio or with an existing one. The required documents are:
- PoA holder’s PAN and KYC details
- Notarized copy of PoA
PoA holders can transact on behalf of the investor. The PoA can be cancelled via a letter to the AMC.
15.7 Registration of Nominee
- Nomination is available for individual investors only.
- Investors can nominate up to 10 nominees.
- Minor nominees need a guardian mentioned for managing the investments.
- Investors can change nominees anytime.
- If no nominee is made, a declaration to opt-out is required.
15.8 Pledge and Lien Marking
Mutual fund units may be offered as collateral for loans. The process involves:
- Submitting a request to AMC/RTA with folio number and scheme details.
- RTA marks a lien in favor of the lender.
- Units cannot be redeemed without NOC from the lender.
- In case of death, the rights of the lender supersede the nominee’s rights.
15.9 Transmission of Units
Transmission refers to transferring mutual fund units in the event of the unit holder’s death. The transmission process depends on the situation:
- To Surviving Unit Holders: If the first holder passes away, the units are transmitted to the second holder.
- To Registered Nominee: If a nominee is registered, the units are transmitted to them.
- To Legal Heirs: If no nominee is registered, the units go to the legal heirs.
15.10 Change in Option
Investors can change from the pay-out option to the re-investment option of IDCW. The change has no financial implication as the NAV remains the same.
15.11 Change in Corporate Name or Status
Corporate investors must submit the following documents for a change in corporate name or status:
- Name change certificate from the Registrar of Companies.
- Authorization to invest, approval from the board, and a list of authorized signatories.
15.11.1 Change in Authorized Signatories
Corporate investors need to submit a certified true copy of the board resolution and an instruction letter to register a change in authorized signatories.
15.12 Investor Grievance Redressal
If an investor has a grievance, they can approach the Investor Service Centre (ISC) of the RTA or AMC. If unresolved, the investor can escalate the issue to the Compliance Officer or use SEBI’s online system (SCORES) for grievance redressal.
15.13 Value Added Services by RTAs
RTAs provide value-added services such as:
- Consolidated account statement for family members with a common email ID.
- Statement of realized capital gains, pay-out of IDCW, and statement of ELSS.
- Statement of unrealized capital gains for tax planning.
- Holding and portfolio valuation statement for asset allocation decisions.
15.14 Timelines Pertaining to Various Services Provided by RTAs
